ícone If I could choose

If I could choose I’d be happy for at least eight hours a day. And the rest of the time I’d reserve for the natural hardships.

But they would be light because everyday I’d be sure I had my fee of happiness.

If I could choose I’d book a few hours everyday to only do things that would make people happy. Full dedication.

If I could choose I’d stop anything I was doing at five pm and would sit down to watch the sunset.

I would choose special places. I’d try not to repeat myself too much. The sunset time would be something sacred. My time to watch God.

If I could choose I’d live between the sea and the mountains. Halfway. Not too far from one, not too far from the other.

I would plant flowers. I’d have vases on the windowsill. Many books beside my bed at night.

After work, because if I could choose I’d always work, be always productive, I’d sit to contemplate the night embroidered by stars and moonlight.

If I could choose I’d smile a lot. But I’d also cry a lot, sometimes, so as to not forget what tears mean. To just smile is not a good option. It makes us forget that pain surrounds the world and is an inseparable mate of many creatures.

If I could choose I’d declare my love everyday. A declaration of love without fanfare, without splurge, that tells the elected heart that I can be counted on everyday, everytime, for every crisis and joy.

If I could choose I’d live in a lighter way, less painful, more intense, less distressful. If I could choose...

The terms of our lives are chosen by us, usually before we are born. Where we’re going to be reborn, who will be the beings that will receive us, giving us physical life, a home, a family as a whole.

We choose the professional area we’ll act on, because the occupation is the lever for the human progress. We establish a line we’ll follow for the family we’ll build later, picking the partner and the children that will come through us.

In general terms, we choose  the gender of life and death. However, it’s up to us, to our free-will, to follow or not the plan established before our reincarnation.

We can be sure: there will always be choices offered to us - those that will cause smiles, hugs and declarations of love.

The possibility of transforming the scenarios inside of us and of learning that we can live at least fifteen minutes of happiness with such intensity that they can become  hours, days, months, or the time we choose.

Life is a continuous choice. When the sun lights the day, our choices will determine if the day will bring us happiness or unhappiness. Everything depends on how we face the daily events.

For those who complain about everything and paint the sky of existence black, everything will be tiredness and boredom. For those who welcome the day with a willingness to learn, the day will always be a new opportunity to try, grow and learn to enjoy the happiness in the little things.
