ícone Transforming power

There is a charming province, in the region of Puglia, in Italy, called Alberobello.

The name derives from Sylva Arboris Belli, which means jungle of war trees.

Well situated, geographically, between the Adriatic and Ionian seas, high on a hill, since ancient times, it deserved the greed of the conquerors of various origins.

The trulli houses, which means dome, are noteworthy. They are white, cylindrical houses, built of overlapping stones.

A dome, also made of stone, where, many times, symbols are often painted, forms the ceiling.

The trulli exist only in this region, north of Puglia, but in no other place, the concentration is as large as in Alberobello.

For this reason, they are considered a Humanity´s patrimony, by UNESCO, since 1996.

The province has a rich history of glories and sacrifices, being, nowadays, a major producer of olive oils.

Its limestone soil gives life to twelve million olive trees, some of which are considered the oldest in the world.

In the past, this region was deep in the sea, and the ground covered with limestone, thanks to the natural changes that occurred on the planet.

Ravaged by audacious conquerors, their farmers took the trouble to tear up the earth´s crust until they found suitable soil for planting and life.

This gigantic work, which required great effort and persistence, resulted in this abundant production of olive oil for almost the entire country and abroad.

Visiting this producing region that attracts hundreds of tourists, constantly, we think about what the human being is capable of doing.

Its transforming power decides to conquer the soil and does so, overcoming the rock, seeking fertile land for abundant production.

In these difficult days we live in our country and in the world, it would be up to each of us to utilize this extraordinary power.

Before the stones of the difficulties that arise, we can trigger our efforts to overcome them, whether those of a particular character or those of the entire community.

If we are united, we will be even stronger and will be able to become a booster force of progress, turning deserts into gardens.

Truly, stones into loaves, into grains, into wholesome food.

Our verb, our attitudes may encourage indifferent or agitated souls in torment to modify their own course.

Our actions will serve as an example to the ones who observe us and who, stimulated by them, will join our efforts to solve serious problems that distress many people.

Together we can eradicate ignorance, soften hunger and wrap the ones who suffer in bad weather.

With continual effort, we will find the blessed soil of love for the planting of happiness and peace.

Aware of our ability, we will make our earthly existence worthy, by acting positively.

The unhappy land, still covered with stones and uselessness, will receive the beneficial action of our action.

Let us do this. Let us put our hands into action, heart and brain in good.

Let us think about it.
