That Thursday, gathered for the Jewish Passover celebration, Jesus offered the Apostles the ultimate instructions.

Instructions that would be valid for the following hours and for posterity. They are profound speeches, announcing pains and afflictions.

Likewise waving at His constant presence, emphasizing: I will not leave you orphans, I will return to you.

And He said: Whatever you ask my Father, in my name, He will give it to you. Ask, and you will receive.

In these days of insecurity and fear, which surround us, His words make us sure that we are not alone.

He, our Lord and Master, is ready.

These hours of anguish, which propel us into chaos and pain, are fleeting.

We have already experienced other serious moments. In the 14th century, the black plague was one of the most devastating pandemics in human History.

The figures show that between seventy-five to two hundred million people have perished in Eurasia. In Europe alone, a third of the population was wiped out.

But, we overcome. We rebuilt the cities, towns and, testifying to our perseverance, we had children and grandchildren.

Two world wars plunged us in dread. It is estimated that on the Second one between seventy to eighty-five million people perished.

Even there, we rise, showing our moral courage, attesting that we are the essence of the Father Creator. And we remade the world panorama.

The 2011 Japan earthquake, followed by a tsunami, devastated several locations along the northwest coast.

Nineteen thousand people died or disappeared with the advance of water on land, devastating everything in its way.

The body of water flooded the Fukushima Nuclear Power Station, damaging the reactors, in the worst nuclear accident, since the Chernobyl Soviet Power Station in 1986.

We got over it. We developed advanced techniques to prevent eventual accidents of the same order.

We rise again and go on living. We are certainly a race of infinite possibilities. We are creatures in the image and likeness of a Mighty Lord.

In this way, we look up. The worries that now torment us will pass. Everything that happens on this Earth passes. The strong winds, the destructive action of volcanoes, tsunamis.

The nefarious action of viruses will pass too. We have science on our side, knowledge that we did not have in the past. And we will always improve more, in full demonstration of our intellectual, inventive and researching capacity.

We have rediscovered forms of communication, in the face of the need for isolation, in the pandemic that has set in.

We learned to care for our brother. Confined at home, we produced masks and offered them to hospitals.

Without being able to go out, we used technology to see each other, communicate, pray together. We ask not only for ourselves, but all of our brothers, who get sick, who die.

Jesus, describing these pains that would affect us, the afflictions of the world, stated:

I have told you this, that you may have peace in me; in the world you will have afflictions, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Let us trust. We will be winners, with Him, once again.
