Humanity has hopefully awaited the Third Millennium.
Those of us who hastily read information from one source or another believed that, at the dawn of the twenty-first century, everything would change... for the better.
The day would break radiant, and people would become better. The world would be a better place.
However, as days passed and months accumulated, more than a decade slipped away without significant changes.
We are still waiting for humankind to forget itself, for all beings to embrace one another as friends, with kindness and affection.
We await the day when the fierce wolf will drink from the same stream as the lamb.
When creatures will unite their hearts in sweet affection. A day when places of worship will become true altars of nature, where people will gather to praise the Supreme Being of Creation.
And also to celebrate fraternity under the banners of work and solidarity.
We long for the day when we will love one another tenderly. When we will have only sweet words for our neighbors - words of enchantment, encouragement, and joy.
A day, finally, when love will overcome hatred and bitterness.
When human beings, as brothers and sisters, will join hands and support one another, and tears will be wiped away by boundless compassion.
How we long for God's kingdom to be established in the sorrowful landscapes of Earth, in the places where pain lingers and shame brands defeated hearts with the fire of despair.
We wait...

If we wish to hasten this long-awaited day, we must extend the hands of charity, allow love to penetrate our minds, descend through our voices, and flow through the tenderness of our hands, shining within our hearts.
And this must not be tomorrow, but today. Not later, for now is the sacred moment to help.
Then, those of us who lament will find support from our brothers and sisters and regain the strength to endure life's struggles.
Those of us who feel alone will find comfort in the whispers of caring voices telling us: We are here, we who love you. We are your brothers and sisters. Let us move forward together.
In our homes, we shall love our family, honoring them with our gestures of affection. We must love by bringing life and warmth to those who thirst for love and hunger for understanding.
For each one, we must offer moments of patience and dedication, understanding that if the Lord has gathered us under the same roof, there are powerful reasons behind it.
Reasons that have everything to do with our progress and spiritual growth.
And for that reason, we must make use of every hour of every day.
Then, we will await the dawn of a new day with renewed hope, certain that the Celestial Friend watches over us.
Finally, we will be sure that He counts on us, on our direct and necessary actions, for the establishment of the world of peace we speak of so often.
He, as the Divine Shepherd, who assured that none of His sheep would be lost, waits for each of us to fulfill our role, however great or small, for the benefit of all Humanity.
Let us reflect on this. Let us take action.
